This specimen was lot 1289 in Ponterio sale 173 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $470. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. Taler, 1644-CR. PCGS AU-53. Johann Georg I (1615-56)." This coin was issued by the elector of Saxony in 1638-56 and is one of the common thalers of the seventeenth century.
