This specimen was lot 23657 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $1,527.50. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "Prussia. Wilhelm II 3 Mark 1915-A, MS67 NGC, fully brilliant with subtle champagne toning in the legends. A very attractive example of the Mansfeld commemorative." This three mark is the last silver issue from the kingdom of Prussia. While [[Germany]] was deeply embroiled in World War One, one wonders why mint officials thought this insignificant event was worth commemorating.
