This type was struck for the republic of [[Iceland]] in 1946-67. This date is the first issue since the inaugural issue of 1946. Formerly a kingdom under the Danish crown, Iceland declared herself a republic in 1944. The first republic coinages were one, five, ten, twenty-five aurar and one and [[Iceland 1946 2 kronur|two kronur]] issued in 1946. Few issues of the republic are catalogued at more than a few dollars.
