This specimen was lot 22989 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $90. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Penny, 1894. PCGS MS-63 BN Secure Holder. Good strike, toned with traces of mint red. From the Brighton Collection." This penny was struck 1874-94 in several varieties and is common, tho the proofs are rare. Worn specimens fill dealer junk boxes. Numerous varieties exist.
Recorded mintage: 3,883,000, the last "bun head" penny.
