From CoinFactsWiki
The first specimen was lot 23159 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,997.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pedro II 640 Reis 1701P, MS61 NGC, legend ends REX-E-BD. Exceptionally sharp for this series with appealing light gray patina, a perfect type coin. Very scarce in mint state. From The Santana Collection of 640 Reis." The Pernambuco mint struck this type in several varieties 1700-02. It saw hard use for over a century and is unheard of in this quality.
