Sincona sale 11, lot 2318
This specimen was lot 2319 in Sincona sale 11 (Zurich, May 2013), where it sold for 600 CHF (about US$743 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR/ÖSTERREICH Ferdinand I. 1521-1564. Taler 1560, Prag. Selten. Sehr schön. (Austria, Ferdinand I, 1521-64, thaler of 1560, Prague mint. Rare, very fine)"
This particular type is a very early thaler, struck 1558-61, and is a product of the Prague mint in Bohemia. Davenport lists over 130 different thalers for Austria in the sixteen century. Bohemia was not added to the Hapsburg dominions until 1526.
