This specimen was lot 25618 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $705. The catalog description[1] noted, "Zurich. Taler 1736, AU58 NGC, two-tone silvery gray surfaces showing considerable luster." This type was struck in Zurich 1736-68 and was one of a series of thalers struck throughout the eighteenth century. Many of the later issues were "city view" thalers. The obverse legend, "MONETA REIPUBLICAE TIGURINAE," means "coin of the Republic of Zurich."
