This specimen was lot 1076 in Sincona sale 50 (Zurich, October 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Würzburg, Bistum. Melchior Zobel von Giebelstadt zum Guttenberg, 1544-1558. Guldentaler zu 72 Kreuzern 1552. Mit Titel Karls V. MELCHIOR•EPS•WIRCE•FRAC•DVX Der hl. Kilian mit Schwert und Krummstab hinter dem vierfeldigen Wappen. Rv. CAROLI•V•IMP•AVG•P•F•DECRETO Gekrönter Doppeladler mit dem Reichs­pafel auf der Brust, darin die Wertzahl 7Z. Von grösster Seltenheit. Gutes sehr schön. Bei dem Stück handelt sich um die erste Talerprägung von Würzburg. (Germany, bishopric of Wurzburg, Melchior Zobel of Giebelstadt, 1544-58, gulden thaler of 72 kreuzer of 1552, struck in the name of Charles V. Obverse: St. Kilian with sword and crozier supports quartered arms; reverse: crowned double headed eagle with the imperial orb on its breast bearing the face value "72". Of the highest rarity, Good very fine. This is the first thaler of Wurzburg.)"
St. Kilian was an Irish monk who converted Franconia and Thuringia to Christianity. He was martyred around 686 A.D. by beheading, which is why he is usually depicted holding a sword.
