Venice SB818-21303r.jpg

This specimen was lot 21303 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Venice. Ducato, (1786-87)-GF. Paolo Renier (1779-89). NGC MS-64. Moneyer G. F. Tone free with flashy luster in the fields and design elements that are essentially complete and without major incidence of doubling. Astounding quality considering the relative crudeness of the type and not surprisingly the single finest graded at NGC or PCGS." This type was struck with various mintmaster's initials 1779-89.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 23.40 g, .826 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM 706 (formerly KM C-100); Pap-36. Dav-1567.
