Sincona sale 31, lot 32

This specimen was lot 32 in Sincona sale 31 (Zurich, October 2016), where it sold for 160 CHF (about US$190 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "OTTOMAN TUNIS | Mustafa III (1171-1187ah/1757-1774ce) ½ sultani 1185ah (1771ce) AU R -xf (holed)." This type was struck AH 1185-1187 in the name of Mustafa III in Constantinople. It is very rare in nice condition. Nearly all the surviving Tunisian gold coins of the hammered era have been holed.
