Sincona sale 31, lot 367

This specimen was lot 367 in Sincona sale 31 (Zurich, October 2016), where it sold for 1,600 CHF (about US$1,899 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "REPUBLIC OF TUNISIA, 10 dinars 1990ce/1411ah AU RRR Pf ." This type of 1988-2000 was struck with Arabic legends (KM 341) and French legends (shown here), both rare. It is unlikely to have circulated beyond the president's circle of cronies and supporters.

Recorded mintage: 125 proofs.

Specification: 18.77 g, .900 fine gold, .539 troy oz AGW, this specimen 18.80 g.
