Sincona sale 1, lot 1569
This specimen was lot 1569 in SINCONA sale 1 (Zurich, June 2011), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Trautson, Grafschaft Paul Sixtus von Falkenstein, 1589-1621. Taler 1620. Brustbild mit grossem Kragen und Ordenskette nach rechts. Rv. Gekröntes, von der Vliesordenskette umgebenes Wappen, darüber gekrönter Doppeladler, zu dessen Seiten die geteilte Jahreszahl. Schrötlingsr. Sehr schön. (County of Trautson, Paul Sixtus of Falkenstein, 1589-1621, thaler of 1620. Bust with large collar and Order of the Golden Fleece faces right; reverse: crowned arms, Order around, imperial eagle above dividing date. Very fine.)"
The count was given the mint right as a reward for his service to the emperor as governor of Tyrol. All issues from this locality are rare and expensive.
