Goldberg sale 93, lot 2405
Mexico G93-2405r.jpg

This specimen was lot 2405 in Goldberg sale 93 (Los Angeles, September 2016), where it sold for $188. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico: Mexico State (Estado De). 20 Centavos, ND (1915) NGC MS63 BR. Toluca. Revolutionary coinage. Countermark 20 on 1 centavo (KM-415), 1906-Mo. Only 1 example graded higher in the NGC census. NGC graded MS-63 Brown." These rather enigmatic issues were counterstamped over centavos of the Estados Unidos (shown here) or the Republic (scarce). Two centavo pieces were also counterstamped into forty centavo pieces; these are rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: copper.

Catalog reference: KM-693.1.
