This specimen was lot 31813 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $235. The catalog description[1] noted, "Oscar I Skilling 1853, AU58 Brown NGC. A well-struck piece with rich chocolate brown surfaces and just a hint of luster in the recessed areas of the reverse. One of the more elusive dates of the type with a mintage of 23,000Prior to the reform of 1830, 48 skilling = one riksdaler; after 1830, 128 skilling = one riksdaler specie. As a result the skilling was reduced from 28.3 g to 11.3 g. This is a better date of a type struck 1847-55. The denomination was terminated in 1855.
