Steve Album sale 30, lot 1425
Sweden SA30-1425r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1425 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it sold for $152.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN: Gustav III, 1771-1792, AR 2/3 riksdaler, 1779, initials OL, lightly polished, Choice EF, Ex Dr. John Lund Collection." This denomination was introduced in 1776 to replace the four mark last minted in 1754. It must not have been a success, as this type was struck 1778-80 and then no more. The one-third riksdaler (KM 525) is much more common.

Recorded mintage: 152,000.

Specification: 19.50 g, .878 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-526, SM58.
