Steve Album sale 30, lot 1420
Sweden SA30-1420r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1420 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it sold for $117.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN: Gustav III, 1771-1792, AR 2/3 riksdaler, 1776, initials OL, adjustment mark on face, lamination line on reverse, light tone, two-year type, VF, Ex Dr. John Lund Collection." This denomination was introduced in 1776 to replace the four mark last minted in 1754. It must not have been a success, as this denomination was abandoned in 1780. The one-third riksdaler (KM 525) is much more common.

Recorded mintage: 152,000.

Specification: 19.50 g, .878 fine silver, .550 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM-517, SM55.
