This specimen was lot 5433 in Goldberg sale 69 (Los Angeles, May, 2012), where it sold for $368. The catalog description [2] noted, "Sweden. ½ Daler Plate Money, 1743. Frederik I, 1720-1751. Uniface. 107 x 87 mm. Sea salvaged. Fine to Very Fine." The famous Swedish plate money was issued from 1644 to 1776 in denominations from half a daler to four dalers. This half daler plate, struck 1720-50, is probably the most common. Large numbers have been recovered from wrecks.
