Sincona sale 33, lot 2443
Pomerania in 1648, with Stralsund opposite the island of Rugen
This specimen was lot 2443 in Sincona sale 33 (Zurich, October 2016), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Stralsund. Taler 1640. Titel Ferdinand III. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Kl. Schrötlingsfehler und Prägeschwäche. (Germany, city of Stralsund, thaler of 1640, in the name of Ferdinand III. Very fine-extremely fine, Minor planchet fault and weakly struck.)"
Stralsund, in the duchy of Pomerania, was a member of the Hanseatic League but fell under Swedish rule 1637-1815, when the port passed to Prussia. While some of the minors are listed fairly inexpensively, all the thalers are rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver; this specimen is 28.35 g.

Catalog reference: KM 104, Bratring 81, Dav-5832.
