Straits Settlements 1919 5 cents
This five cent piece is billon version of a denomination issued for the Straits Settlements until 1935. This denomination was originally .800 fine (KM 20, 1902-03), then .600 fine (KM 20a, 1910), then .400 fine (KM 31, 1918-20), then copper-nickel (KM 34, 1920), then back to .600 fine. This date is common in all grades. The Straits Settlements began as a miscellaneous group of trading stations in Southeast Asia and gradually developed into what is now Malaya.
