This specimen was part of lot 50624 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $452. The catalog description[1] noted, "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS. 10 Cents, 1889 & 1899. 2 pieces in lot, both lustrous and attractive. The 1889 is PCGS MS-64." The type was struck in 1871-1900 and many dates are common, including this one.

Recorded mintage: 1,500,000 plus a few rare proofs.

Specification: 2.71 g, .800 fine silver, .069 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
