This specimen was lot 4404 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $364.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS. 10 Cents, 1884. PCGS MS-63 Secure Holder. Crosslet '4'. Deep mottled toning. From the Demarete Collection." The type was struck in 1871-1900 and many dates are common. The SCWC prices the "plain 4" and "crosslet 4" the same.

Recorded mintage: 1,240,000 (both varieties) plus proofs.

Specification: 2.71 g, .800 fine silver, .069 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
