This specimen was lot 72783 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS. 1/4 Cent, 1845. Victoria. NGC MS-62 Brown. First year of issue. A well struck example of the type with attractive chocolate brown color and mottled mocha patina." The type was struck in 1845 only while Singapore was a trading station of the East India Company and is scarce in nice condition despite the large mintage. It was converted to bronze for the 1889 issue (KM 14) and struck until 1899.
