This specimen was lot 408 in Aureo y Calicó sale 261 (Barcelona, July 2014), where it sold for €100 (about US$160 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1748. Fernando VI. Madrid. JB. 1/2 escudo. MBC-. (Ferdinand VI, 1746-59, half escudo of 1748, Madrid mint. About very fine.)"
Shown is a Spanish half escudo struck in 1748 at the Madrid mint. Assayer JB is recorded for the years 1748-1759. A slightly different obverse, KM 372, is also noted for 1748.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.917 fine gold, 0.0498 troy oz AGW.
