Áureo y Calicó sale 347, lot 235
This specimen was lot 235 in Áureo y Calicó sale 347 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €140,000 (about US$184,758 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1708. Felipe V. Segovia. YP coronadas. 4 escudos. Bellísima. Pleno brillo original. No figuraba ninguna moneda de 4 escudos de Segovia de este reinado, en la Colección Caballero de las Yndias. Única conocida. S/C. (kingdom of Spain, Philip V, four escudos of 1708, Segovia mint, assayer YP crowned. Exquisite, full original luster. No four escudos of this reign appeared in the Caballero de las Yndias collection. Unique, uncirculated.)"
This extremely rare type is not listed in the SCWC. It may be a pattern, as its design differs significantly from the eight escudos of 1708. It is tied with the 1710-M as the most expensive four escudos in Cayón[2].
