Aureo sale 242, lot 145
The specimen shown was lot 145 in Aureo y Calico sale 242 (Barcelona, March 2012), where it sold for 8,000 € (about $12,420 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Carlos II (1665-1700). 1673. Sevilla. M. 8 escudos. Todos los datos perfectos. Muy atractiva. Rara y más así. EBC. (Charles II of Spain (1665-1700), eight escudos of 1673, Seville mint. All the dates clear, very attractive, rare thus, extremely fine.)"
This eight escudos was struck 1666-99 at Seville with a few more from Madrid. All the dates are expensive.

Reported Mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.47 g, .917 fine gold, .809 troy oz ASW.
