Aureo sale 261, lot 199
This specimen was lot 199 in Aureo y Calico sale 261 (Barcelona, July 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"1592. Felipe II. Valladolid. 4 reales. Fecha en anverso y reverso. Rara. MBC+/MBC. (Philip II (1556-98) of Spain, four reales of 1592, Valladolid mint. Date on obverse and reverse, rare, very fine.)"
This specimen was offered again as lot 141 in Aureo sale 269 (Barcelona, July 2015), where it sold for €460 (about US$594 including buyer's fees). This type is listed in Cayón for 1589-98 from Valladolid (shown here), Toledo, Segovia, Granada and Seville. The Valladolid mint did not use a letter for a mintmark but rather four pennants on a single pole, visible below the date on the obverse.

Reported Mintage: unknown.

Specification: 13.73 g, .931 fine silver, this specimen 13,62 g.
