Sincona sale 57, lot 3416
This specimen was lot 3416 in Sincona sale 57 (Zurich, May 2019), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$357 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Felipe II. 1556-1598. 8 Reales o. J. Sevilla. Sehr schön. Aussergewöhnlich gut ausgeprägt. (kingdom of Spain, Philip II, 1556-98, undated eight reales, Seville mint. Very fine, Extraordinarily well struck.)"
This type is from Seville and was probably struck prior to 1586, when dates were added. All these early pesos are rare. Assayers C, F and D are noted. It is hammered.

Specification: 27.47 g, .931 fine silver, .821 troy oz ASW, this specimen 27.01 g.
