This specimen was issued by the Solomon Islands. The Solomon Islands, especially Guadalcanal, were the scene of heavy fighting during World War Two. Coinage commenced in 1977. This coin is a product of the Franklin Mint and was issued 1977-83. The reverse depicts a Malaita pendant.

Recorded mintage: 6,000 plus 5,122 proofs plus 544 for the uncirculated sets.

Specification: copper-nickel, 11.25 g, 28.5 mm diameter.
