Senegal 1975 250 francs
This specimen was lot 2656 in Goldberg sale 98 (Los Angeles, June 2017), where it sold for $152.75. The catalog description noted, "Sénégal. 250 Francs, 1975. Bust of President Senghor. Brilliant Uncirculated." Léopold Sédar Senghor (1906-2001) was a Senegalese poet, politician and cultural theorist who served as the first president of Senegal (1960–80). This coin was part of a commemorative program that included silver fifty and 150 francs and gold 250, 500, 1000 and 2500 francs. Senegal, which uses the CFA franc, has never issued coinage for circulation.
