Sincona sale 20, lot 3786

This specimen was lot 3786 in Sincona sale 20 (Zurich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 300 (about US$376 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "[Schaffhausen.] Batzen 1809. Fast FDC. (choice uncirculated.)" The canton of Schaffhausen issued three denominations during 1808-09, a kreuzer, a half batzen and a batzen. All are scarce. Forty batzen = four franken = one thaler and ten rappen = one batzen.

Recorded mintage: 15,000.
