This specimen was lot 3746 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $246.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. Taler, 1828-S. NGC MS-62. Dark toned. Nice strike. From the Rockaway Collection." This type of 1827-28 is fairly common. In 1828, it was accompanied by a mining thaler (Dav-866).

Recorded mintage: 609,000.
