This specimen was lot 3737 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $182.13. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. Taler, 1615. Johann Georg I & August (1611-15). NGC AU Details--Graffiti. Minor graffiti in field. Attractive toning. Nice strike. From the Rockaway Collection." Saxony, one of the larger divisions of Germany and blessed with numerous silver mines, issued large numbers of thalers. This type was issued 1611-16 and is common.
