Sincona sale 18, lot 1490
This specimen was lot 1490 in Sincona sale 18 (Zurich, May 2014), where it sold for CHF 1,600 (about US$2,108 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Taler 1534. Annaberg Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Saxony, thaler of 1534, Annaberg mint, very fine to extremely fine.)"
Saxony, one of the larger divisions of Germany and blessed with numerous silver mines, issued large numbers of thalers. Davenport lists this type for 1534-35 for dukes Johann Friedrich and Johann I.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
