Künker sale 293, lot 1303
This specimen was lot 1303 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €700 (about US$944 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SACHSEN, SACHSEN-MEININGEN, HERZOGTUM, VON 1735 BIS 1826 SACHSEN-COBURG-MEININGEN, Bernhard Erich Freund, 1803-1866. Vereinsdoppeltaler 1846. Vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Saxe-Meiningen, Bernard Eric, 1803-66, double union thaler of 1846, extremely fine.)"
This scarce type was struck 1843 and 1846 and is expensive tho more available than the reform issues of the Wilhelmine empire.

Recorded mintage: 14,853.

Specification: 37.12 g, .900 fine silver, 1.074 troy oz ASW, lettered edge.
