Sincona sale 57, lot 3017
This specimen was lot 3017 in Sincona sale 57 (Zurich, May 2019), where it sold for 5,000 CHF (about US$5,950 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALY | House of Savoy, Vittorio Amedeo II. 1680-1712. Scudo Bianco 1695. VICTOR.AM.II.D.G.DVX.SAB. Drapiertes und geharnischtes Brustbild nach rechts. Rv. .PRIN.PEDE.REX.CYPRI. Gekröntes Wappen auf eine Abschnittsleiste mit Podest, von zwei Löwen gehalten, unten die Jahreszahl. Von grösster Seltenheit. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Kleiner Randfehler. (duchy of Savoy, Victor Amadeus II, 1680-1712, scudo bianco of 1695. Obverse: armored bust right; reverse: crowned arms supported by lions, date below. Of the highest rarity, Very fine-extremely fine, Small edge nick.)"
This type, struck 1690 and 1695, is another extremely rare Italian crown.
