Sardinia 1756 1/2 doppia Fr-1106
"Carlo Emanuele III. 1730-1773. 1/2 Doppia 1756, Torino. Gutes sehr schön. (kingdom of Sardinia, Charles Emanuel III, 1730-73, half doppia of 1756, Turin mint. Good very fine.)"This type was struck steadily 1755-72 along with a gold doppia (KM C31) but all dates are scarce. In other parts of Italy, a doppia was a double ducat but in Sardinia a doppia was a double scudo, hence the different weight standard.
Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.
Specification: 4.76 g, .905 fine gold, this specimen 4.78 g.
