This specimen was lot 1556 in Steve Album sale 16 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2013), where it sold for $153.40. The catalog description[1] noted, "SARAWAK: Charles J. Brooke, rajah, 1868-1917, AR 5 cents, 1908-H, minor surface hairlines, nicely toned, NGC graded MS63 BR details." Sarawak, a British colony on the northwest coast of Borneo, was ruled by a dynasty of white rajahs from 1841 to 1946. This type was issued 1900 and 1908-15 from Heaton. It is reasonably available in low grade but expensive in nice condition. It is accompanied by silver ten, twenty and fifty cents.

Recorded mintage: 40,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 1.35 g, .800 fine silver, .034 troy oz ASW.
