This specimen was lot 20217 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $1,150. The catalog description[1] noted, "Salzburg. Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau Klippe 2 Taler 1593, cleaned XF with a mount trace on one corner. An attractive piece featuring St. Rudbertus on the obverse and a tower on the reverse buffeted by the four winds." Davenport assigns the regular round issue and the klippe shown here the same catalog number. On this occasion, the archbishop also struck Dav-8192 (single thaler), -8193 (8 thaler), -8194 (6 thaler), -8195 (5 thaler), -8196 (4 thaler), -8197 (triple thaler), -8918 (double thaler, shown here), -8199 (1½ thaler) plus klippes.
