Russia 1861-SP 10 kopeks
This specimen was lot 22438 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $176. The catalog description noted, "RUSSIA. 10 Kopeks, 1861-CNB. NGC MS-64. Alexander II (1855-81). Toned." This type was struck 1860-66 in large numbers and this is the most common date. In 1867, the weight was reduced to 1.80 g, .500 fine silver and struck in that form until the collapse of the regime.
Recorded mintage: 19,300,000 plus 5,660,000 with assayer's initials.
