This specimen was lot 10658 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $529. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Ruble, 1836-CNB HT. Attractive multicolor toning. PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder." This type was struck 1832-58 in large quantities but is today very rare in nice condition. The preceding type (Dav-282) is very similar but with a "wings down" eagle.

Recorded mintage: 1,102,000 plus a few proofs.

Specification: 20.73 g, .868 fine silver.
