This specimen was lot 40348 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $63,250. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 5 Rubles, 1798-CN OM. St. Petersburg Mint. NGC MS-62. Very RARE St. Petersburg Mint 5 Rubles of Paul I (1796-1801). Fully lustrous surfaces, showing only light contact marks. Very RARE in this state of preservation. Currently the only example of this date certified by NGC."

Recorded mintage: 148,000 (all mintmasters).

Specification: 6.08 g, .986 fine gold, .192 troy oz AGW.
