This specimen was lot 1145 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,250 (about US$1,685 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"REUSS, REUSS-OBERGREIZ, GRAFSCHAFT, SEIT 1778 FÜRSTENTUM, Heinrich XI. 1723-1800. Konv.-Taler 1778, Saalfeld. Hübsche Patina, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, principality of Reuss-Obergreiz, Henry XI, 1723-1800, convention thaler of 1778, Saalfeld mint, for the New Hope mine. Beautiful patina, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This thaler was issued on the occasion of the count's elevation to prince.
