Kunker sale 263, lot 1121
This specimen was lot 1121 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €2,800 (about US$3,617 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"REGENSBURG, STADT Reichstaler 1665 (Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1664 geändert), mit Titel Leopolds I. Beckenb. Slg. Bach (Auktion Künker 238) 4670. Von größter Seltenheit. Vermutlich 2. bekanntes Exemplar. Felder leicht geglättet, sehr schön. (Germany, city of Regensburg, thaler of 1665/4, in the name of Leopold I. Very rare, one of two known, fields slightly smoothed, very fine.)"
Altho a few Regensburg thalers are somewhat available, such as Dav-5747, this issue of 1664-72 is rare.
