This specimen was lot 695 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $7,637.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Regensburg. Taler, 1633. NGC MS-64. Finest certified example. Commemorating the conquest of Regensburg by Duke Bernhard of Saxony. Minor planchet flaws on the reverse. Attractive toning. Nice strike and very attractive. Exceptional quality. From the Rockaway Collection." While many eighteenth century thalers of Regensburg are common, most of the seventeenth century issues, including this one, are rare.
