Sincona sale 6, lot 822
This specimen was lot 822 in Sincona sale 6 (Zurich, May 2012), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$615 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Regensburg, Stadt Taler 1548. Titel Karl V. Wappen zwischen Jahreszahl. Rv. Gekrönter Doppeladler mit Wappen auf Brust. Sehr schön. (City of Regensburg, thaler of 1548, in the name of Charles V. Obverse: City arms divide date; reverse: crowned double-headed eagle with shield on breast, very fine.)"
Coins were issued for Regensburg both by the city council (shown here) and the bishop. Today, Regensburg is part of Bavaria.
