Sincona sale 18, lot 1483
This specimen was lot 1483 in Sincona sale 18 (Zurich, May 2014), where it sold for CHF 1,250 (about US$1,647 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Taler 1545. Regensburg Mit Titel Karls V. Gutes sehr schön (bishopric of Regensburg, thaler of 1545, in the name of Charles V, good very fine.)"
Coins were issued for Regensburg both by the city council and the bishop (shown here). The bishop issued this type in 1540 and 1543-47. It is expensive but the other episcopal thalers for the sixteenth century are much rarer. Today, Regensburg is part of Bavaria.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, this specimen 28.88 g.

Catalog reference: Emmerig/Kozinowski 39 C/a, Dav-9680.
