This specimen was lot 10330 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $893. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Prussia. 2 Taler, 1841. PCGS MS-62 Secure Holder." This type was struck 1841-42. Despite being issued for only two years, it is the most common Prussian double thaler of the nineteenth century. The denomination became obsolete in the reform of 1871.
