The specimen shown is an example of a type struck in Portugal for 2002-07. Portugal began minting euros in 2002, when their use became compulsory. The admission of additional members caused the reverse to be redesigned in 2007 to show the enlarged zone.

Recorded mintage: 151,947,133 plus 15,000 proofs.
