Sincona sale 23, lot 2956
This specimen was lot 2956 in Sincona sale 23 (Zurich, May 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"POLEN, Republik 20 Zloty 1996. FDC aus Polierter Platte. (republic of Poland, twenty zloty of 1996, proof.)"
Poland obtained her freedom in the early 1990's with the fall of the Berlin Wall but the new government found the treasury as empty as before. NCLT's ("Non Circulating Legal Tender" coinage) were issued in a bewildering array to help stem the flow. This one, one of three silver twenty zlotych issued in 1996, honors the hedgehog.

Recorded mintage: 18,000.

Specification: 31.1 g, .925 fine silver, this specimen 31.03 g.

Catalog reference: KM Y-312.
