This specimen was lot 72865 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it sold for $1,116.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 50 Soles, 1960/59. NGC MS-65. Sharply struck, fully lustrous and attractive light tone." This denomination, struck 1950-69, was theoretically a circulating coin but actually was a bullion piece like her sisters, the gold five, ten, twenty and hundred soles.

Recorded mintage: 2,139.

Specification: 23.405 g, .900 fine gold, .677 troy oz AGW.
